Haywards Heath & Wivelsfield Ladies FC started out in season 2006/07 as Henfield Ladies. They played in the Sussex County Womens and Girls Football League Division 2. In their 1st game they drew at home 5-5. and eventually finished 4th in the league. The following season 2007/08 they were asked to step up to division 1 which they did and creditably finished 4th. They rounded off the season with a 7-1 defeat of local rivals Haywards Heath 2nds.

At the start of the 2008/09 the team left Henfield and joined Ryman league club Burgess Hill Town and became AFC Burgess Hill Town Ladies. In their 1st season as Burgess Hill they again finished 4th but in a stronger , more competitive league. The following season Hill Ladies reached the final of the Sussex County Womens Challenge Trophy and lost a pulsating match 4-3 After Extra Time to Albion Community Women having come from behind 3 times. That same season 2009/10 AFC Burgess Hill Town Ladies won the Sussex County Womens League by 4 pts. They had a +49 goal difference and conceded less than a goal a game all season. Emma Chrimes was the leagues top scorer with 35 goals, Hayley Plummer scored 17 and Leigh Farley 10. They also recorded their highest score beating Maresfield Ladies 13-2.

In season 2010/11 the newly promoted Hill played in The South East Counties Womens League Division 1 where, in a season beset by injuries to key players they finished 7th. At the end of the season Burgess Hill Town decided that, because of pitch overuse, they could no longer support a Ladies Team. Fortunately Wivelsfield Green FC offered the team a home so they started the 2011/12 season as Wivelsfield Green Ladies FC and playing at Wivelsfield Green Recreation Ground.

With three seasons under their belt playing as Wivelsfield Green Ladies, the players were then given the opportunity to move to Hanbury Staduim where they have the use of the main pitch and bar. They are now known Haywards Heath and Wivelsfield Ladies Fc. The team lost a number of players to retirement and other commitments so have had an influx of new young players. This season will be about learning and gelling together.

Five of the players who were in the first match as Henfield are still with the club as they begin their 10th season.
